Welcome to SkyArk Animal Transport
Sky Ark is a nonprofit organization providing the venue to arrange air transportation, ground transportation and airlift services during disasters and desperate crisis situations to the animal and humanitarian community. Sky Ark is an animal/wildlife and humanitarian organization that excels in arranging and providing transportation and support. We are not involved in animal rights issues. Emergency air operations often demand the ability to respond rapidly, remain for continued support and then withdraw quickly. Sky Ark has the experience to address these types of crises rapidly. In the midst of crisis, efficiency and safety can be sustained only through professional, disciplined management and complex technical support.
Sky Ark Transport Programs:
Regular Transports: Sky Ark will provide transport and/or arrangements for our members' animals needing cross-country and local transportation. We will also provide transport for members when there are situations when the USDA or other governmental agency has shut down a puppy mill or seized animals from deplorable conditions, or from failed animal rescue groups. Sky Ark will attempt to provide transportation to these animals, but only when there is excess funding and time available and members contribute via our Transport Request Center.
The animals/wildlife we arrange transport for have a high chance of being put to sleep, not because no one wants them but because no one can get them to other shelters, sanctuaries, foster homes or adopters in other areas of the United States. We want to help animals, wildlife and people survive disasters by bringing in needed supplies and personnel and by transporting out animals and wildlife in crisis situations. We are confident in our ability to provide a service that is desperately needed. We hope you will help us fulfill our mission by donating funds to cover costs.
Transport during natural disasters: Over the past 6 years, Sky Ark has had numerous requests for help after floods, earthquakes and wildfires, and when Hurricanes Katrina/Rita/Wilma left thousands of animals, wildlife and people without food, medical attention or shelter. The Sky Ark board has decided that one of our priorities is to provide transportation to animal evacuees, wildlife and the transportation of needed supplies to people during disasters.
Transport Request Center: OUR NEW SERVICE!! - Starting up June 1, 2009
SkyArk will provide a Transport Request Center for all our members. This center is for both air and ground transporters to offer their services for FREE or at a discount rate to other members needing transport for their pets or animals. We also offer an escrow service for using a transporter on the rare occision you need to pay one.
We will still be offering free air transports when we have the funding and pilots to support these requests. But due to the fact that we get so many requests, we have added this service to help more members get their animals transported.
NEWS: During the last couple of months we have had to focus on our 11 year old son Casey. He is one of the founders of Sky Ark. In Feb 2009 he was found to have a lime size brain tumor. After it was removed - we found out it was cancer. Casey is now going throught 9 months of chemo after 6 weeks of radiation for his cancer. If you would like to follow Casey progress and have a Facebook account - you can. Just go to http://apps.facebook.com/caseyrussell

Our lives are really changing right now, but Casey, Cara and Mickey still wish to help animals. We will be doing several new and exciting changes to our website .The site may be down from time-to-time from June 25th 2009 to July 10th 2009 as these changes are made. Please visit it and consider joining it to help animals and children.
